Transparent ABS, also called MABS plastic material, which has excellent transparency, impact toughness and good processing properties. The light transmittance of transparent ABS is about 88%, second only to PMMA (91%) and PC (90%). The main manufacturers of this MABS plastic material are LG Chemical, Toray and Denka.
Many chemicals will corrode the rubber phase in the ABS resin, causing the transparent ABS to fog. MABS plastic material is widely used in household appliances and kitchenware, consumer goods, automotive and packaging industries. At present, transparent ABS resin is mainly used in small appliances such as TVs and air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, floor scrubbers, window cleaners, etc., and parts of transparent windows, double-shot molding TV front frames, and air-conditioning panels sprayed on the back are also made by transparent ABS (MABS plastic).
